THE BAS-200slm BIO-ACOUSTIC
SIMULATOR/SOUND LEVEL METER
FOR AUTOMATIC, ONGOING
COMPLIANCE DOCUMENTATION

NOISE IS ALWAYS PRESENT!

Have you ever noticed that in even the quietest office setting, noise can sometimes be an issue? People are coming and going, someone cracks a joke and laughter erupts, then there are shouted reminders to do XYZ as someone else walks out the door. And that cart with the squeaky wheels seems to be pushed by at the most inopportune moments.

On-again, off-again ambient noise can be just enough to throw off the audiogram test you’re conducting. What do you do to guarantee a “quiet room” test when it isn’t cost-effective or physically feasible to bring in a 600-pound sound room? And if you

do have an on-site test booth, how do you guarantee that it remains quiet—even when subjects cough, sneeze, or talk?

AUTOMATIC, ONGOING

COMPLIANCE DOCUMENTATION

The BAS-200slm Bio-Acoustic Simulator/Sound Level Meter solves the ambient noise problem with automatic, ongoing compliance. With the BAS-200slm, your test booth or “quiet room” is continuously monitored and the BAS-200slm will accept user response to test signals only when the ambient noise is in the acceptable range. Your test record will show the ambient noise for each octave band at test time, as well as document that the test was performed within acceptable noise levels.

Better yet, the BAS-200slm is a dual-function instrument that creates a legal record of the daily calibration check along with automatically documenting compliance with OSHA ambient noise regulation 29 CFR 1910.95. Press Release: Sound Level Meter.

THE ONLY SEAMLESSLY INTEGRATED
SOUND LEVEL METER

The BAS-200slm continuously monitors ambient noise levels in each test booth or “quiet room,” seamlessly integrating this data with either the CCA-100mini Computer Controlled Audiometer or CCA-220 Industrial Audiometer to automatically create a legal record of compliance. The easy-to-read screen, shown in real time, displays ambient noise levels that automatically turn red when they are too high (View Ambient Noise Level screen). If the ambient noise is out of compliance, the audiometer will not accept responses and the stimulus is re-presented until the noise returns to acceptable levels.

BUILT-IN FLEXIBILITY

Each test printout physically documents compliance—step-by-step. But the best part is that the Sound Level Meter, seamlessly integrated into the CCA-100mini Computer Controlled Audiometer or CCA-220 Industrial Audiometer, allows you to easily select compliance with OSHA* ambient noise regulations, ANSI requirements, or maximum permissible sound levels of your own choosing. This guarantees that each test booth or “quiet room” is quiet enough for the testing needs of your subjects.

THE BAS-200slm
DOES IT ALL!

It’s not enough to choose an office space that you hope will remain quiet. And you can no longer afford to simply check the ambient noise level at the beginning of each day. Ambient noise occurs when equipment generators turn on and off, shifts change, and even when the mail is delivered.

You must know that the ambient noise level can adversely affect any test, and in this litigious culture you need to have ongoing, legal documentation of Hearing Conservation compliance. The BAS-200slm monitors and documents ambient noise throughout each test with the utmost flexibility by automatically:

  • Meeting ANSI standards for both sound level meters and octave band filters
  • Documenting compliance with OSHA regulations
  • Demonstrating in each report that maximum permissible ambient noise levels were not exceeded
  • Storing ambient noise levels with audiogram data, and
  • Supporting OSHA*, ANSI, or user-defined maximum permissible ambient noise levels

*Note: The CCA-100mini Computer Controlled Audiometer supports OSHA regulations only.

CUSTOM-DESIGNED TO SUPPORT ONGOING
COMPLIANCE IN ANY ENVIRONMENT

Ambient noise can be an issue within both test booths and “quiet rooms.” The BAS-200slm, developed specifically with nurses in mind, automatically monitors ambient noise. This dual-function instrument also allows you to easily conduct the daily calibration check and automatically creates legal documentation.

This instrument is so flexible that there’s no need to remove it from the system when performing subject testing. Simply connect the response switch to the BAS-200slm and—presto, it returns to testing mode. Plus, the BAS-200slm is small enough to mount on a test booth wall or place on an adjacent tabletop. Because the CCA-100mini or CCA-220 audiometer powers it, there is no worry about battery life.

Now you can get the ultimate in control and flexibility. Benson Medical Instrument’s BAS-200slm Bio-Acoustic Simulator/Sound Level Meter continuously monitors ambient noise and seamlessly integrates this data into either the CCA-100mini or CCA-220 audiometers so you can easily produce automatic, ongoing compliance—every time and everywhere!

INDUSTRY INNOVATOR WITH
“SEAMLESS SOUND SOLUTIONS”
FOR ALL YOUR
HEARING CONSERVATION NEEDS

Once considered the “new kid on the block,” Benson Medical Instruments has now become the established leader with the only seamlessly integrated Hearing Conservation testing system available today. Maybe this is the reason why the U.S. Military continues to choose Benson Medical Instruments as its sole developer and maintainer of occupational audiometry equipment purchased since 1997. Or maybe it’s because Benson Medical Instruments continues to be at the forefront of important audiometry design breakthroughs.

BENSON MEDICAL INSTRUMENTS WAS THE FIRST TO:

  • Deliver an industrial audiometer that seamlessly integrates the ability to test, store all data, and output all reports from one easy-to-use piece of equipment.
  • Create an IntelliTesting™ feature that automatically scans audiograms for test problems, and responds with appropriate solutions.
  • Incorporate seven standard languages, and now we’re up to 12 (in a stand-alone instrument). The CCA-220 Plus audiometer can even accommodate 20 additional factory-installed languages, and has the ability to hold 32 more, easily installed by you!
  • Develop a system for ambient noise level compliance that meets ANSI standards for sound level meters. Now you can continuously monitor ambient noise and produce automatic, ongoing Hearing Conservation program compliance for effective “quiet room” testing.
  • Support new OSHA recordable regulations and NHCA/CAOHC baseline revision guidelines.

Most importantly, Benson Medical Instruments was the first to produce a Hearing Conservation testing system that is so comprehensive and integrated it is “seamless” in its application. We’ve brought the art and science of Hearing Conservation testing into the 21st century—where they belong.
